Nature Experiences and Environmental Education Along the Aura River
The Aura River Foundation is involved in implementing the City of Turku's Resident Budget for 2023. The foundation's idea to develop the Halistenkoski area, Myllärintalo, and the Virnamäki nature reserve with a particular focus on children and young people received great support in the Resident Budget vote, and the planned actions are now in progress. The aim is to enhance the Myllärintalo facilities and its surroundings in a broader and more effective way to promote children's and young people's connection to nature and environmental education, while also generally improving the enjoyment of families along the river in the Halistenkoski area.

The Resident Budget is the City of Turku's method of implementing participatory budgeting. Participatory budgeting is an approach that involves residents in discussions, planning, and decision-making concerning public funds. Turku residents can propose, develop, and vote on how three million euros of the city's budget will be used every two years. The next Resident Budget round will begin in October 2023, during which new ideas will be gathered to improve the city.
