Eelin Hoffström-Cagiran
Managing Director of the Aura River Foundation
Eelin Hoffström-Cagiran started as the Managing Director of the Aura River Foundation on February 1, 2024. Her responsibilities include managing the office staff, developing the administration, and working in close cooperation with the board. Eelin plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and development of the foundation.
Eelin's Vision: Eelin's goal is to advance the foundation's work focused on the health and biodiversity of Aura River. Under her leadership, the foundation is developing and implementing the Aura River Program 2025-2030, which supports environmental well-being and water protection.
Future Goals: Eelin focuses on ensuring the efficient operation of the foundation’s administration and seamless cooperation with the board. She also ensures that the foundation’s staff can work smoothly and effectively.

Jussi Saari
Water Protection Projects Expert at the Aura River Foundation
Jussi Saari works as the project manager at the Aura River Foundation, overseeing water protection projects and coordinating the pilot area for the Archipelago Sea project. He is an important contact for farmers and landowners on water protection issues and works closely on environmental protection.
Jussi's Story: Aura River has been a central element in Jussi Saari’s life, as it is the heart of the Southwest Finland landscape, where he enjoys nature, kayaking, and fishing. In particular, the riverboats in the center of Turku and the views of the Aura River bank offer unforgettable experiences, making him appreciate the work done for the river and its surroundings even more.
Responsibilities: Jussi coordinates water protection projects, collaborates with landowners and farmers, and participates in the planning and implementation of the Archipelago Sea program along the Aura River. His tasks also include fundraising and developing new projects.

Io Karunen
Invasive Species VEX Project Coordinator
Io Karunen works as the project coordinator for the Invasive Species VEX project at the Aura River Foundation. Her tasks include planning and implementing project activities, coordinating volunteer work, and collecting data. Io focuses on ensuring that the nature of Aura River remains vibrant and biodiverse, supporting both human and ecological well-being.
Io's Story: As a biology student and someone who spends a lot of time in nature, Io finds it important to support the biodiversity of local nature, which benefits all its inhabitants. Swimming in natural waters and pausing by them is irreplaceable for Io, and she enjoys contributing to the well-being of Aura River.
Responsibilities: Io plans and implements activities for the Invasive Species VEX project, coordinates volunteer work, and collects information on invasive species and their management.

Karoliina Tammi
Viestintäsuunnittelija
Karoliina on aloitti meillä harjoittelijana alkuvuodesta ja jatkoi viestintäsuunnittelijana sen jälkeen. Karoliinan kädenjälki näkyy meidän some tileillä sekä kotisivujen uutisissa.
Karoliinan tarina: Karoliina nauttii kävelyistä Aurajoen varrella, erityisesti Ravattulan puolella, missä joki tuo mieleen aikamatkan menneisyyteen. Hänestä on hienoa, että joki on sama ja silti jatkuvasti muuttuva, ja hän on iloinen saadessaan tehdä työtä Aurajoen hyväksi.
Tehtävät: Karoliina vastaa meidän sosiaalisen median kanavista (Instagram ja Facebook), hän tekee niihin sisältöjä, hallinnoi meidän viestintäkampanjoita ja toteuttaa meidän viestintäsuunitelmaa.

Pia Nurmi
Environmental Education Project Coordinator

Pia Nurmi is an important member of the Aura River Foundation, responsible for environmental education projects. Her main task is to ensure that various educational components are carefully planned, implemented, and followed up.
Pia's Story: Aura River has been an important part of Pia Nurmi’s life for over 25 years—she has lived, studied, and spent leisure time along its banks. Today, Aura River is her beloved destination for canoeing and nature activities. Pia is glad to work for the benefit of Aura River and increase awareness of its state and restoration.
Responsibilities: Pia coordinates environmental education projects, plans workshops, prepares and markets materials, and conducts workshops for school groups.
