Everyone’s Right
The Finnish relationship with nature is often described as unique. We are fortunate in that in Finland, everyone has the right to move freely and enjoy nature regardless of who owns the land. Everyone’s Right (or “Everyman’s Right”) provides the freedom to use Finland’s nature in many ways, but it also brings responsibility.
Those who move in nature must respect it and ensure they do not cause more than slight harm to the landowner, land use or the environment. When spending time in nature, the most important thing is to respect it and leave it in good condition for the next visitors. A good rule of thumb is that whatever you can carry into nature, you can also carry out.
