Paattinen Attractions
Paattinen is a district located in the northern part of Turku. It was an independent municipality before being merged with Turku in 1973. In Paattinen, you can see vast agricultural fields, with the Paattinen River running through the landscape. The river flows into the Maaria Basin and continues from there as the Vähäjoki River before joining the Aura River in Koroinen.
Paattinen Nature Trail
The Paattinen Nature Trail features a lean-to shelter called Lepakkolaavu along its path. This nearly two-kilometer trail passes through stretches of almost untouched forest rich in deadwood and diverse wildlife. Parts of the trail also run through managed forest. The shelter is located on a rocky outcrop, accessible via a relatively easy path from Männistöntie. The trail begins at the parking area on Männistöntie by the Paattinen River. An information board at the parking area provides a map of the nature trail.
Riverside Trail
The Riverside Trail runs for about two and a half kilometers along the Paattinen River. You can access the trail from Auvaismäentie near the old parsonage, where the main starting point and information sign are located. You can also join the Riverside Trail from the Paattinen Nature Trail. The path provides views of the winding river valley at several points. Passing through pastures and fields, the trail occasionally dips into small wooded areas. In some places, you can watch the river flow from a bridge.
Airi’s Trail
Airi’s Trail is approximately five kilometers long and follows the old highway route of Huovintie. Along the trail, you can find interesting historical sites such as old border stones and the Huovintie well. The trail also features a uniquely shaped serpentine spruce. The trailheads are located near Kreivilä School and at a forest road off Laukolantie. You can reach the midpoint of the trail from central Paattinen via Tanhukaari. There is a parking area and bus stops at Kreivilä School, making it a convenient starting point for the trail.
