Agricultural Water Protection Advisory Work
The Aura River Foundation has been providing farm-specific advisory services and small-group training on agricultural water protection to farmers in its operating area. Since 2011, this work has been carried out in collaboration with the Paimion River Association. The activity has been self-financed, and over the years, additional funding has been received from the ELY Centre and the TEHO project.
The aim of the work has been to help farmers plan agricultural water protection measures, thereby reducing nutrient runoff and eutrophication along the river. Due to the structure of support systems, the work has mainly consisted of general advisory services, with a focus on maintaining farmers’ interest in agricultural water protection. The advisors were Irma Kemppainen and Eriika Lundström. The advisory services were free of charge for farmers.
