The Aura River podcast takes listeners from the river’s headwaters to the Archipelago Sea

The Aura River Foundation’s new Aura River podcast has now been launched on Spotify. The podcast explores the Aura River and its catchment area through people, current topics and environmental work.

Hosted by Olli Järvenkylä, the podcast introduces people connected to the Aura River and discusses themes such as waterways, agriculture, nature, cultural heritage and the actions being taken to preserve the river for future generations.

The first season focuses on the Haltuun project coordinated by the Aura River Foundation. The project aims to improve water management and reduce nutrient loading to the Archipelago Sea via the Aura River and the Paattinen River.

The first episode is now available

In the opening episode, the Aura River Foundation’s Project Manager Jussi Saari discusses the current state of the Aura River catchment area, challenges related to water management, and the goals and measures of the Haltuun project.

The episode provides an overview of why water management matters and how the condition of the Aura River and the Archipelago Sea is being improved through cooperation between local stakeholders.

Upcoming episodes feature experts and people connected to the river

The first season consists of five episodes, with a new episode released every Wednesday.

• farmer Santeri Vähätalo, discussing life along the Aura River, agriculture and environmental responsibility
• ProAgria Southwest Finland crop production specialist Arja Nykänen, explaining how soil structure, drainage and vegetation cover affect water management
• Turku University of Applied Sciences experts Noora Haukijärvi and Karoliina Virtanen, discussing water quality monitoring and measurements carried out along the Paattinen River
• Aura River Foundation Executive Director Eelin Hoffström-Cagiran, presenting the foundation’s work to promote water protection and recreational use of the Aura River
